Is Online Counseling for me?
Online Counseling is for those who are comfortable with touch typing and interacting online. It is not for you if you are not comfortable with touch typing and/or interacting online.
Online counseling is not appropriate for everyone. There are issues which online counseling is not able to adequately support. These include, but are not limited to:
suicidal thoughts/ intent
thoughts of harming yourself or others
acute psychiatric episodes such as psychosis
intoxicated or drunken states
If you are currently experiencing any of the above issues, please contact your doctor, seek the help of a trusted friend or family member, and/or dial 911 immediately.
Serene adheres to the Ethical Codes of AAMFT (American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy), ACA (American Counseling Association), NBCC (National Board of Certified Counselors), and suggested principles for the online provision of mental health services of ISMHO (International Society for Mental Health Online).
