Helping people is my passion.  Over the course of my career I have explored various techniques and have discovered what it means to really help someone.  As I have grown professionally and personally, I have learned that the ability to help someone relies on the connection between therapist and client.  Entering into counseling can be intimidating.  The safety that is developed through the therapeutic relationship helps to ease anxiety and facilitate exciting progress.

I believe in a basic truth - that we are all equipped with what we need.  However, due to life circumstances we are at times unable to access our own resources.  I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to help you regain your resources and discover your inner wisdom.

I am trained in traditional models of therapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy, and employ strategies that are specific to your needs. Whether you prefer a secular or spiritual approach, I tailor strategies to you.

I look forward to the opportunity to help you achieve greatness!

My professional experience includes clinical, supervisory, and administrative roles in a variety of settings.  I have worked with all ages with a broad spectrum of issues, from everyday stress to dealing with a history of abuse & trauma.  During my over decade long career I have helped to launch new clinical programs; directed a residential program for delinquent youth; supervised clinical, direct care staff, and management; and developed my private practice.  I remain active in the counseling field, attending workshops and training regularly.  I exceed the licensing board's continuing education requirements every year.  This helps me to always be aware of new research, theories, and techniques to ensure that I am offering the latest, most effective treatment.  I provide training for local businesses and agencies on a variety of issues, including: balancing life and work, stress management, and dealing with change in the workplace.  And I have presented at local and national conferences.  I have co-authored journal articles and a chapter in a book.  I also provide clinical supervision to fellow therapists and student interns in the counseling field.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at Virginia Wesleyan College and then a Master of Arts degree in psychology at Texas A&M University.  I also completed additional postgraduate work in marriage and family therapy at Old Dominion University.  I am licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania and Virginia and a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Georgia.  I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), an effective treatment for anxiety and trauma. I am a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), American Counseling Association (ACA), Pennsylvania Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (PAMFT), and Pennsylvania Counseling Association (PCA).
